The main points from the January meeting are summarised below:
- RBS Closure – there was a presentation and discussion about the RBS Branch closure in Dunbar, and the effect this would have on local customers and businesses.
- Town Maintenance – many issues have been reported to ELC
- Planning matters – Members expressed considerable concern regarding time spent on considering individual applications, submitting views and attending Planning Committee meetings only to have their views ignored. A case in point has been the recent application for the Newtonlees East site.
- Belhaven Hospital – at a meeting of the Integrated Joint Board, it was decided to close Ward 2 and move services to Ward 3. The whole issue is complex and has given rise to much local concern and debate.
