An important project for Dunbar Community Council this year has been the gift of a Book Barn at Lauderdale Park. Funded by Community Wind Power and with labour from East Lothian Council, the small barn was erected adjacent to Lauderdale Park’s play area. The idea is that it will give children a chance to take books and build their own collections of favourite reads, at home. Books have been donated by Zero Waste and by Barn users. Since May, it has had hundreds of young visitors and DCC Councillors Rena Keller, and Pippa Swan, who developed and delivered the project, have been thrilled with the use that young people have made of the Barn. Huge thanks go to Bev Anderson and her team at Wishing Tree by the Sea for all their help in keeping the Barn open during cafe hours.
