From DGS News Update:
Mock Court Competition
Well done to our students who entered this year’s Mock Court Competition. We were delighted when one of our teams progressed from the East of Scotland regional finals at the Court of Session in Edinburgh to the National finals in the City Chambers, Glasgow, presided over by the Right Honourable Sir David Edward (European Judge, retired), and the Right Honourable Lady Dorrian (Lord Justice Clerk). On Wednesday night, at a black tie gala evening in the Signet Library in the Faculty of Advocates, Edinburgh, the results were announced. We were overjoyed to learn that our students had won first place, resulting in them progressing to represent the UK at a Mock Court Competition in New York, next June. Students will spend a week in New York and have the opportunity to attend a New York school for 2 days as well as taking in the sights.
In addition, two of the students, Zosia Kuzok and Anique Burke have progressed to a final selection panel this Sunday which will identify 6 students to make up a team at an international competition in 2018 in The Hague, Netherlands at The European Court of Human Rights!
We held a special assembly today where Gerald Murphy, Chairman of the School Mock Court Case Project, and Sherriff MacFadyen addressed our S3,5,6 students and presented the trophy to the winning Pursuers’ Team.
Here is a list of the participants, followed by the awards.
