Whilst we all enjoy official fireworks displays, especially on or around the 5th November, there is an increasing trend for ad-hoc fireworks displays at other times, and especially from now till the New Year. People need to be fully aware of the safety issues and must act responsibly around fireworks. Dogs are especially affected by fireworks, and many become truly terrified and distressed. The rules state that:
“No person shall use an adult firework during night hours. (‘Night hours’ means 2300 hours until 0700 hours, other than permitted fireworks nights, which in this case is the 5th November when they are permitted to use them up to midnight). Fireworks (Scotland) Regulations 2004, Regulation 3″
So if you are having your own fireworks display in your own premises, do so with consideration for the effect it may have on others.
