Morning Service and Wreath Laying

Commencing 10.45 am, Sunday 11th November Dunbar War Memorial, Marine Road

The traditional parade, led by Dunbar British Legion Pipe Band, will proceed from the High Street at 10.30 am to the renovated Dunbar War Memorial, Marine Road, for Dunbar’s Remembrance Sunday Service and Wreath Laying.

During the service young folk from DPS and DGS will ‘plant’ 135 individual crosses around the War Memorial, one for each of 134 men and one woman named fatalities from the First World War. This will be done during the lone piper playing ‘The Flowers of the Forest’.  The crosses are being provided by the Dunbar branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland.

Those present will observe a silence at 11 am, the start and end signaled by maroons set off from the Dunbar lifeboat in the bay. Following this service there will be services in Dunbar Parish Church (DPC) and other local churches.  It is likely that these services will take cognizance of this year’s special occasion.
