Display of Flags on Dunbar Town House

In 2007, East Lothian Council decided that the Saltire should be flown on all their buildings, which could be replaced by other flags on special occasions. In April 2015, Dunbar Community Council had a second flag pole erected to allow for other flags to be flown. It was subsequently agreed by a majority vote to follow the same protocol as ELC for buildings with two flagpoles, and this allows for other flags to replace the Saltire or the Union Flag when appropriate. On St Andrew’s Day in November 2015, for example, two Saltires were flown. Since that date, the Union Flag and the Saltire have both been flown.
